Ukraine: prices for fruit and vegetables set historical record

For the last week, with 7 on 13 March, the price of fruit and vegetable basket of Ukrainian consumers increased by 6.4%. Thus, Ukraine is a seasonal trend of rising prices for fruits and vegetables, which, moreover, is gaining momentum. Price increases for the first decade of March had turned out to be a record high for the year 2011. For the last week, with 7 on 13 March, the price of fruit and vegetable basket of Ukrainian consumers increased by 6.4%. Thus, Ukraine is a seasonal trend of rising prices for fruits and vegetables, which, moreover, is gaining momentum. Price increases for the first decade of March had turned out to be a record high for the year 2011. The trend increase in fruit and vegetable baskets left even the continuing decline in prices for hothouse, which last week fell to 1-3%. At the same time quite dramatically increased prices on borŝovoj set in which prices had everything except beets. This should stimulate more active sales of products available in the custody of the public and farmers. Prices of fruit grew slightly, due to the increase in the price of a lemon. "Thus, a weeklong set of fruit and vegetable per inhabitant, now costs more than ever before in the history of Ukraine's independence," said Andrei Yarmak, head of the project "APK-inform". "Never before has the prices of cabbage, potatoes and onions do not reach this level in March. Thus, in April prices may grow even more dramatically, "says the expert.
